Mario Molina was born in 1943 in Mexico City.

Studied Chemical Engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

In 1974 it was shown that CFCs were destroying the ozone layer.

For his work on atmospheric chemistry, Molina was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1995.

He was the first Mexican-born scientist to receive the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Molina is also a member of the United Nations Secretary-General's High-Level Panel on Global Sustainability.
